FIXTURE NEWS | County Cup Clash Cancelled

With a great deal of reluctance, Quorn Football Club have taken the difficult decision to withdraw from the Leicestershire and Rutland County Cup for the 2023/24 season.

“We were all very excited to be competing in the County Cup again this season” commented Club Secretary Adam Etheridge, “It’s been several years since the competition had taken place, and having it back on the schedule was a real boost. I genuinely feel that we had a chance to go all the way and win the trophy this season, however, with the number of long term injuries we’ve sustained, and a brutal stretch of league fixtures to come in November, we just wouldn’t have been able to compete on Tuesday.”

“We do understand the upset and frustration that this will cause, and our apologies to our opponents, the County, match officials and fans, are sincere. We didn’t take the decision lightly, and explored alternatives to withdrawing, however, none would have done justice to the club or competition. We look forward to returning to the competition next season.”

The fixture versus Loughborough Students on Tuesday evening has been cancelled. Richard Lavery and his team now turn their attentions to another Leicestershire opponent as they begin preparations for hosting Harborough Town on Saturday the 4th of November at Farley Way (15:00 KO).
