NEWS: Beswick Makes First Signing

Quorn Football Club have announced their first arrival of the offseason, signing goalkeeper Tom Allsopp from NPL Midlands new boys Darlaston Town.

Allsopp fills the void left by the departure of Charlie Woods, and the Birmingham-born shot-stopper is chomping at the bit. “It’s an ambitious club, and that matches my own goals” said Allsopp, continuing “I won a promotion last season, and the club are keen to win one this year.”

Now living in Marston Green, where he’s an Insurance Coordinator, Tom’s boasts an impressive CV of clubs, starting off with Solihull Moors. During his spell with the National League Club (whose first ever goal in step one was scored by Ryan Beswick), Allsopp spent time on loan to Stourbridge as well as Banbury United. Sticking in Solihull, Tom joined local side Highgate United.

After keeping goal for “The Gate”, Allsopp signed for Leicestershire side Heather St. John’s, before returning to Solihull with Chelmsley Town, who groundshare with our NPL Midlands rivals Coleshill Town. Most recently Tom helped Darlaston Town to promotion from step five, via the playoffs. Allsopp kept an incredible 19 clean sheets last season, with six for Chelmsley Town and 13 for “The Citizens”, helping the latter finish third and beat Lichfield City in the playoff final.

Allsopp’s incredible season didn’t end there though. He was also part of Trooper FC, who won the FA Sunday Cup final at Stoke City’s Bet 365 stadium, beating Home Bargains 2-1 at the end of April. Tom isn’t willing to rest on his laurels though “I would love to get another promotion on the CV. I know the club were close last season, and I’m confident we will be up there again at the end of the season.”

Welcome to Farley Way Tom.
