NEWS | County Cup Returns

Quorn Football Club can confirm that Leicestershire & Rutland County FA have informed the club that the County Cup will take place for the first time, post-covid.

The Cup was suspended in the 2019/20 season with Anstey Nomads and Barwell due to play in a final that never took place. Now, four years later, the competition is set to return, with the first round draw already having taken place.

All non-league sides at step five, and above, that compete in Leicestershire have been entered in to the competition. With a total of fifteen sides fitting the criteria, Coalville Town, who finished highest last season, have received a bye.

The Reds have been drawn away to Loughborough Students. Quorn narrowly pipped the Scholars to a playoff place last season, but lost both matches against the University during the season, 3-2 at Farley Way and 5-0 away from home. The Students look like a different side this year though, currently sitting twelfth in the UCL Premier North, but on a four match unbeaten run.

No details are set for when the tie will be played, but it has to be before the 5th of November. Keep an eye on the website and social media channels for updates.
