PREVIEW: Bedworth United (A)

Where:

The Oval, Coventry Road, Bedworth, Warwickshire, CV12 8NN

When:

Saturday 2nd of November 2024 (3pm KO)

We’re back on the road this weekend as we head to the West Midlands.

Quorn’s Form:

The Reds have won a remarkable 10 straight league games and are unbeaten through 13 matches. A 4-3 win at home to Coventry Sphinx on Tuesday continued an impressive run that was seen Quorn score 12 in the past three matches, despite missing their top scorers Paddy Webb and Courey Grantham for the bulk of that stretch. Perhaps most impressively, the Reds have four straight cleansheets on their travels, including that impressive 2-0 win at top of the table Corby Town.

Bedworth United’s Form:

A last-minute goal on Saturday helped Bedworth snap a streak of six games without a win at the weekend. That 2-1 win away to Loughborough Students was their first since mid-September when they defeated Shepshed Dynamo 2-0. Bedworth currently sit in 16th place, just three points above the drop zone.

One to Watch:

Bedworth have recently added a couple of players that have represented Quorn this season. Defender Kane Auld has joined the Greenbacks after a brief stint helping Walsall Wood muddle through their issues, but Mitch White looks likely to be the dangerman as he settles into life at The Oval. White showed his prowess in preseason with two superb strikes at Melton Town but drew a blank in 10 appearances for the Reds in competitive matches. It’s only a matter of time until he rediscovers the goalscoring touch that helped fire Wellingborough Town to promotion last season.

Last Time:

In the final regular season game of 2023/24, the two sides played out a forgettable 1-1 draw at the Oval in late April. The Reds knew that avoiding defeat with 10 goal swing in goal difference would be enough to make the playoffs and Ant Carney rang the changes to make sure we were in good shape for the upcoming semi-final. Bedworth took an early lead but Silvio Bello’s incredible header guaranteed a point on the road.
