PREVIEW: Hinckley LR (H)

Where:

The Stotto Stadium, Farley Way, Quorn LE12 8RB

When:

Saturday 9th of November 2024 (3:00pm KO)

The Reds return to the Stotto Stadium following a come-from-behind win at Bedworth United last weekend. Saturday was the fourth time this season that Quorn have trailed in the league, coming back to win three of those games. Hinckley LR started the season without a win in their first ten games but their victory at Loughborough Students last weekend moved them out of the relegation zone for the first time this season.

Quorn’s Form:

What more can be said about The Reds’ start to the season. 11 straight wins, unbeaten in 14 league games, is just phenomenal by any metric. Quorn have scored 16 goals in their last four home games, and 21 in six matches at The Stotto Stadium so far this season.

Hinckley LR’s Form:

Following their disastrous start to the season, Hinckley face an uphill battle to return to the playoffs after an impressive fourth place finish last season, but their signs of a return to form for Neil Lyne’s side. Their last five matches have seen wins at home to Rugby Town (5-1) and away to Loughborough Students (2-0) as well as draws at Racing Club Warwick (2-2) and at home to AFC Rushden & Diamonds (0-0) in midweek. The only blot on that recent run was a 1-0 defeat away to Wellingborough Town.

One to Watch:

Former Anstey Nomads keeper Jake Laban hasn’t conceded from open play in three straight matches, the only time he has picked the ball out of his own net was in the 31st minute at Wellingborough Town, but that was from a penalty. But, the man that all eyes will be on is undoubtedly former Red, Dom Brennan. Dom has hit the back of the net six times already this season, an impressive start, almost matching his total of seven from last season.

Last Time:

Both meetings between the two sides took place before the New Year last season, with Hinckley LR winning both matches. After a very forgettable August Bank Holiday meeting in Hinckley, a late own goal from Pat Zito being the difference, the sides reconvened at Farley Way in late December.

Paddy Webb fired the Reds into a fifth minute lead, but Dom Brennan equalised just two minutes later. Ben Humphreys scored a 65th minute winner for the visitors as the Leicestershire rivals would both go on to impressive ends to the season, but fall short in the playoff semi-finals.
