The Reds scored their 100th goal of the season last weekend, but the chase is still on to reach 100 points. Can they take a huge step towards that target when Racing Club Warwick visit on Saturday?

Quorn’s Form:

Ryan Beswick’s side are now unbeaten in twelve league games, with ten wins dating back to the Long Eaton United defeat at the start of the year. That run has seen home victories versus Boldmere St. Michaels (4-1), Corby Town (3-0), Coleshill Town (3-0) and Bedworth United (6-0), Wellingborough Town (3-0) as well as the recent 1-1- draw with Rugby Town. Overall, at home, Quorn have won 13, drawn four and lost one, scoring 56 and conceding 14.

Racing Club Warwick’s Form:

The Racers have drawn four of their last six matches, winning one and losing the other. That victory was an impressive one, 3-1 away to playoff chasing Long Eaton United. Prior to that they drew back-to-back trips, 1-1 at Shepshed Dynamo and 0-0 at AFC Rushden & Diamonds. The other draws were 0-0 at relegation strugglers Lye Town and, most recently 2-2 at home to Worcester City last weekend. The sixth result was a 2-1 defeat at home to Corby Town in the middle of March. Overall away from home Warwick have won six, drawn three and lost nine, scoring 22 and conceding 28.

One to Watch:

Max McNulty has an impressive strike rate, scoring 14 goals in 23 appearances for Racing Club. The striker didn’t play in the first game between the two sides, making his debut in the following league match. McNulty began the season with step five Romulus, who he joined after returning from the United States where he had played collegiately for the Lander University Bearcats.

Last Time: Racing Club Warwick 0-2 Quorn (31/08/2024) Northern Premier League Midlands Division

Quorn visited Warwick in late August, departing with a convincing 2-0 win. The goals came late in either half, with Paddy Webb breaking the deadlock in first half stoppage time, and Courey Grantham sealing the win with two minutes to play.

The first half was a fairly balanced contest, Quorn dominating possession and spending the majority of the time in their opponents half, but Racing Club Warwick were well-drilled and managed to blunt any forays into the box with massed ranks of orange shirts. They also carried a threat on the break with Greg Mills and Louis Monaghan spurning the best chances for either side.

It looked as though the sides would go in level at the break, but two minutes into stoppage time, Grantham split the high line of the defence and sent Webb through on goal. It looked as though the deadly striker had lost his chance when he cut the ball back, but he steadied himself and shot with his weaker foot, squeezing the ball past Sam Lomax, who got a touch, but couldn’t keep it out.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Quorn dominating but Warwick eking out chances on the counter. Tom Allsopp had to make a couple of superb saves to earn a second cleansheet in a week, as the Reds defence were excellent once again.

There were a few nervy moments towards the end of the encounter, but Racing Club Warwick simply couldn’t compete when Quorn turned it on in the final fifteen minutes. The home side could scarcely get out of their own half as wave after wave of attacks amplified the pressure. The winner came off the back of incredible work from Micah Jebbison. The forward chased down a defender, won possession and ran at the defence, picking our Grantham who was able to walk around a helpless Lomax to roll the ball in for the easiest finish of his career.

Despite the contest being over, Quorn went in for the kill and Lomax had to be at his best to deny several chances over the course of six minutes of stoppage time.
