PREVIEW: Shepshed Dynamo (H)
Where:
The Stotto Stadium, Farley Way, Quorn LE12 8RB
When:
Thursday 26th of December 2024 (1:00pm KO)
It’s a Boxing Day derby as Dynamo visit The Stotto Stadium. Shepshed sit twelfth in the table but are top of the form guide, with five wins in their last six league games. Quorn are second in the form table with four wins and two draws over the same spell, but will enjoy their Christmas dinner with a 15 point gap at the top of the Midlands division.
Quorn’s Form:
Amazingly, the Reds haven’t won at home since the 12th of November, with three straight draws at The Stotto Stadium, including the County Cup tie with Lutterworth Town. At the same time, you have to go back to early April to find the last time Quorn lost at home. In all, the Reds remain unbeaten through 22 league games this season, with seven wins and three draws at the Stotto so far this season.
Shepshed Dynamo’s Form:
Dynamo have won three straight on their travels in the league, beating Sutton Coldfield Town (4-1), Racing Club Warwick (2-1) and Sporting Khalsa (3-1). In all, they’ve won five of their last six in the league, the only blot a 2-1 defeat at home to Bedworth United. Their most recent result was a 3-0 win at home to Coventry Sphinx over the weekend, but they also lost 2-0 to Loughborough Students last week in the quarter-final of the County Cup. After an atrocious start, a change in management, with the return of former Assistant Gary Drake brought a change in fortunes with the Northwest Leicestershire side rising to 12th in the table.
One to Watch:
Tristan Dunkley is the man in form, scoring five in thirteen for Dynamo. Dual-registered with step three Barwell, Dunkley has an impressive CV of former clubs, including Hednesford Town, Halesowen Town, Solihull Moors, Rushall Olympic and Tamworth.
Last Time:
Back in early April Courey Grantham scored the only goal as Quorn edged Shepshed Dynamo 1-0, creeping closer to the playoffs.
Grantham had Quorn’s best chance of the first half, as Tyree Wilson and Cain Noble linked up well on the right, with the attacking midfielder playing a superb ball in for Grantham, but he couldn’t keep his effort down.
Paddy Webb looked to be clean through on goal with an hour played, but an incredible last-gasp tackle from Jahdahn Fridye-Harper denied the Reds’ top-scorer. When the breakthrough finally came, it was from another good move down the right, as Kyle Bryant combined with Noble to lay on a perfect centre for Grantham to smash past Ganley.
