PREVIEW: Sporting Khalsa (H)

Where:

The Stotto Stadium, Farley Way, Quorn LE12 8RB

When:

Tuesday 12th of November 2024 (7:45pm KO)

First hosts fourth as Sporting Khalsa visit The Stotto Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Quorn’s Form:

Fifteen games unbeaten to start the season isn’t bad really, I suppose. The Reds have won 12 straight in the league and kept eight cleansheets so far, including a tough 1-0 win at home to Hinckley LR on Saturday afternoon. Through seven home games, Quorn have won six and drawn one, scoring 22 and conceding just six times.

Sporting Khalsa’s Form:

The Lions had been on an incredible run of their own, winning nine straight matches in all competitions, but a recent blip has seen them lose three of the last four, without scoring. Back-to-back league defeats away from home have seen Khalsa lose on the road to Boldmere (1-0) at the weekend, and Coventry (2-0) the week before. Those results came on the back of a 1-0 defeat at home in the Walsall Cup to step three Stourbridge. The lone bright spot in the recent downturn was a 2-0 midweek win at home to Sutton Coldfield Town.

Khalsa will be desperate to get back to winning ways as they travel to step two Oxford City in the FA Trophy on Saturday ahead of difficult trips to Long Eaton United and Corby Town.

One to Watch:

There’s absolutely no doubt who the dangerman is for Khalsa. Simeon Cobourne has scored 12 goals in 20 matches so far this season, propelling Sporting into the second round of the FA trophy and into the playoff places in the league.

Last Time:

The Reds won both encounters last season, with the most recent game being in late January at the Guardian Warehousing Stadium. Quorn were simply scintillating that day, emerging 4-0 victors with Courey Grantham opening the scoring in the 9th minute. Paddy Webb added the second on the stroke of half time and Kyle Bryant, making his 100th appearance for Quorn, added a third from the bench. Webb scored the final goal in the last minute as the Reds began a playoff charge.
