REPORT | Coleshill Town 3-3 Quorn

10 man Quorn fought back to rescue a point at the death in a thrilling 3-3 draw away to Coleshill Town. A Paddy Webb penalty and Cain Noble strike had seen the Reds take a 2-0 lead in the first half, but, after three Colemen goals, it took Courey Grantham’s late header to keep Quorn in the playoff places.

Webb opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 34th minute after he had been brought down in the area by Gio Dainty. It looked as though the Reds were going to run away with it when Noble added the second in the 39th minute. Charlie Marzano had won the ball on the edge of the box, picking out Tyree Wilson who laid the ball off to Noble, for a low shot in to the corner.

The hosts responded with a good spell of pressure just before the break, Taylor Carter-Byrne’s header rewarded their efforts with a goal back before half time, but it looked as though Charlie Woods may have been fouled as he came out to collect the inswinging corner. The Colemen started the second period well and Robbie Bunn had all day to score the equaliser as Quorn’s defence parted.

Jordan Gough was dismissed for a handball just after the hour mark and Theo Rowe scored the resulting penalty. Quorn showed incredible character, despite the numerical disadvantage, and pushed for an equaliser. Reece Fyfe was brought down for yet another penalty, but Paul Hathaway was equal to Wilson’s effort to maintain his side’s lead.

Quorn’s persistence paid off though as Hathaway misjudged a long ball, allowing Grantham in to head the final goal of an entertaining match that both sides will feel they could have won.
