SQUAD NEWS: Devonn O’Sullivan Joins Reds
Quorn Football Club have announced the signing of young central midfielder Devonn O’Sullivan, who joins from Shirley based Highgate United.
Although the registration deadline passed in late March, O’Sullivan dual-signed in time for the Northern Premier League cut-off, but remained with “The Gate” as battled to avoid relegation from step five.
With Highgate’s relegation from the Midland League Premier Division confirmed by a 4-1 defeat at home to Whitchurch Alport on Saturday, Devonn has linked up with the Reds for the final three games of the season.
Born and raised in Coventry, Devonn joined his local club and has represented many teams in the City, including Coventry Copsewood, Alvis and the Carl Baker Academy. Moving into senior football at the age of 16 with Stratford Town, Devonn scored his first senior goal in front of over 1,000 spectators in a Boxing Day derby clash with Leamington.
That heated Warwickshire rivalry at step three saw a thrilling 2-2 draw, including a late brace for Callum Stewart, who was recently sold to Shrewsbury Town, but the dramatic finale also featured a superb 94th minute strike from O’Sullivan to open his senior account.
Now 18, O’ Sullivan has step four experience as well, making eight appearances for Rugby Town in the 2023/24 season. This season, as well as making 12 appearances, and scoring once, for Highgate United, Devonn also played for Pershore Town 16 times, scoring once, as “The Plums” narrowly missed out on a playoff place.
Having already been training with the club Devonn was able to offer the following about signing for Quorn. “I’ve known about the club for a while, and seeing the growth over the past few seasons has been impressive. The club are clearly on an upward trajectory and I’d love to be part of that.”
Player/Manager Ryan Beswick added “Devonn was highly recommended to us, so we’ve included him in training recently and have been impressed with his abilities and the way that he’s worked within the group.” O’Sullivan is likely to make his debut for the Reds over a busy Easter weekend when they host Racing Club Warwick (Saturday 3pm) and visit Shepshed Dynamo (Monday 1pm).
