SQUAD NEWS: Oscar Marshall Makes Rugby Switch
Quorn Football Club can confirm that Oscar Marshall has joined Rugby Borough on dual-registration terms. Oscar made his first team debut as a second half substitute in the County Cup at Hinckley AFC at the end of September, scoring the winning penalty in the shootout victory. Since then Marshall has gone on to make a total of ten first team appearances, scoring twice.
Ironically, his first senior goal came in Rugby, as a second half substitute against Rugby Town in a 6-0 win in the NPL Midlands. He followed that up three days later with a goal against Lutterworth Town in the County Cup quarter-final, again scoring in the shootout as Quorn progressed. With the return to fitness of Paddy Webb, first team opportunities have become limited in the past month, with Oscar not making an appearance since Boxing Day, so the decision was made to fine him some game time to continue his rapid development.
Rugby Borough currently sit second in the United Counties League Premier Division South (step five), just four points off the automatic promotion spot, and with a game in hand on first-placed St. Neots Town. Oscar has registered in time for their six-pointer away to third-placed Aylestone Park tomorrow.
