PREVIEW: Sutton Coldfield Town (A)

Where:

The Domino's Arena, Coles Lane, Sutton Coldfield, B72 1NL

When:

Saturday 21st of December 2024 (3pm KO)

We’re back on the road again this weekend, and it’s another trip to the West Midlands, which has been a happy hunting ground so far this season. In three trips to the area we have a 100% record, scoring 10 goals without conceding.

Quorn’s Form:

Another big win on the road saw a comfortable 5-0 victory at Coventry Sphinx. As well as stretching the unbeaten league start to 21 games, it marked a tenth straight away win in the NPL Midlands. During that run, the Reds have kept seven clean sheets, not conceding more than once in a game. That ten game win streak has seen an incredible 30 goals scored, with just three conceded. Zak Goodson has scored eight of those goals.

Sutton Coldfield Town’s Form:

A 3-1 win away to Bedworth United at weekend sees The Royals head into this fixture in eighth place. Their last home game was an impressive 1-0 victory over the in-form Anstey Nomads. Prior to those two wins, Coldfield had lost six out of seven, failing to score in five of those games. Almost two thirds of Town’s points have come at home this season (20 out of 31), with six wins, two draws and two defeats from ten games.

One to Watch:

Only one player for Sutton Coldfield has scored more than five times this season, and that is Owen Parry, with 12 goals in 21 appearances. The attacking midfielder joined Town in the summer, moving from local rivals Boldmere St. Michaels, where he scored 24 last campaign. The former Rushall Olympic man has now racked up 51 goals in 98 appearances over the past three seasons.

Last Time:

The two sides met on the opening day of the season, with Sutton Coldfield making the trip to Farley Way. Owen Parry opened the scoring in the 10th minute when Tom Allsopp missed a back pass and the Town man was in to tap home. Paddy Webb equalised shortly before the half hour mark, and by half-time goals from Courey Grantham and Cain Noble had Quorn well on top. Webb added two more in the second half to open the season with a hat-trick.
