A third away game in a row sees the Reds return to NPL Midlands action, sitting fourth in the table. The Blues currently sit in second, after an impressive start to the season following on from their promotion campaign.

Quorn’s Form:

Despite our poor results in the cup competitions, we remain unbeaten through our first four league games. Results so far have seen an opening day rout of Sutton Coldfield Town, a 1-1 draw at Long Eaton United, plus a 0-0 draw at home to Anstey Nomads on Bank Holiday Monday and a 2-0 win away to Racing Club Warwick last time out. The only blots on our copy book so far this season are the 4-0 defeat away to Cleethorpes Town in the FA Cup, and the 4-1 loss at Hednesford Town in the FA Trophy.

Worcester City’s Form:

The Faithful grabbed the headlines on opening day as they bounced back from an early deficit to beat promotion candidates Anstey Nomads 4-1 at Claines Lane. City followed that up with home wins against Racing Club Warwick (3-1) and Lye Town (2-0). They have also beaten Loughborough Students 3-1 away from home. Their only defeat in the league was 2-0 away to, league leading, Corby Town last time out. In the Cup competitions they defeated Walsall Wood in an FA Cup replay, before a cupset loss at home to Dudley Town and a shock 4-1 defeat at home to Hinckley LR on Saturday in the Trophy.

One to Watch:

Kyle Belmonte fired City to the Hellenic Premier Division title last season, scoring 43 goals in 55 games, as Worcester enjoyed an impressive run to the FA Vase semi-final as well as their stunning League form. The Faithful lost just one league match, amassing 101 points, and a positive goal difference of 89. Belmonte has appeared in nine games so far this season, scoring goals in the 3-1 wins against Racing Club Warwick and Loughborough Students, as well as the opener in the Hinckley LR loss at the weekend.

Last Time:

The two sides haven’t met since March 2019, when Worcester City won 5-2 at Farley Way, in front of 144 supporters. City were 3-0 up at the break and won 5-2 despite goals from Bradley Jones and Steve Hart. Our last away game was almost six years to the day and was played at Bromsgrove Sporting’s Victoria Ground. The match ended 2-2 with Luke English scoring twice in stoppage time to rescue a point for the hosts. Darious Darkin and Steve Hart had fired the Reds into a two-goal lead.
