REPORT: Quorn 2-0 Racing Club Warwick
Quorn continued their impressive season keeping another clean sheet as they zeroed in on 100 points. Reece Fyfe scored a goal of the season contender and Jordan Clarke sealed the points as the Reds notched their 22nd shut-out of the season.
The first half saw little in the way of clear-cut chances, but Quorn dominated and will feel they should have scored. Grace Lowe denied the hosts a penalty as a shot was blocked, with appeals from the home support that the ball struck an arm, but the Referee was well-positioned to deny the claims Warwick came closest to breaking the deadlock though as Cameron Ebbutt smashed a shot off the bar from range. The shot was struck with such force that Tom Allsopp could only watch between the Quorn posts, and the goal needed to be moved back into place.
The Racers managed to scramble a chance away after a block at the near post ricocheted around the box. Leo Farruch, making his first appearance since October, slotted in well and was at the heart of several attacks, working a couple of chances for himself but not making a strong connection as Sam Lomax was able to comfortably gather as the sides went in goalless at the break.
Max McNulty had an early chance in the second half as Quorn were caught in possession. The forward forcefully met a cross but headed against the home crossbar Warwick failed to muster a notable shot on target in a relatively comfortable win for the Reds. Reece Fyfe eventually made the dominance count, driving an effort into the top corner from 25 yards deep with Lomax routed to the spot.
Jordan Clarke added a second in the final ten minutes as Quorn cruised to a 31st win of the season. There was a also a welcome return for Jack York after 19 weeks on the side-lines with a broken bone in his foot. There’s no time to rest for the Reds as they make the short trip to Shepshed Dynamo on Easter Monday (13:00 KO).
