SQUAD NEWS: Joe Goodwin Joins Ranks

Fullback Joe Goodwin has become the latest signing for Ryan Beswick’s Quorn squad.

The Leicestershire native will dual-register with Ingles, where he helped the Shepshed based side into the step six playoffs last season, under Quorn Assistant Manager Shaun Wilkes.

Formerly a trialist with Notts County as a youngster, Joe’s first junior club was Markfield Colts. “I started playing football with my Dad in the garden and going down to my local community centre field most Saturday mornings to practise.” Moving on to Barrow Town and latterly Heather St. John’s, Goodwin found the attention of the Magpies.

Joe moved on to Loughborough Students, and also had a spell back with Heather St. John’s, playing senior football at St. John’s Park. “I've played as a centre back, midfield, winger, wingback and fullback” revealed the versatile Goodwin, continuing “I enjoy playing wingback and fullback which is what I've played for the last two seasons. I can support in attack and like getting back to contribute defending.”

“When Shaun left after the season, I asked him if there was any opportunity to come down to pre-season with Quorn. The reason I signed is because I wanted the step up to continue my development. I’m joining a good group of players that can help me do that.”

“I enjoyed last season, after a couple of seasons where I was in a bit of a rut. I wasn’t enjoying my football and was starting to lack motivation, so getting that back and being able to sustain it has been a big achievement on a personal level. For the short time of being at Quorn I've enjoyed being around a good group of people.”

Welcome to Farley Way Joe.
