SQUAD NEWS: De Lacerda Boosts Ranks

Dynamic forward Jonathan De Lacerda has joined Ryan Beswick’s Quorn squad after impressing in preseason.

Born in Derby, but raised in Portugal, De Lacerda now resides in Leicester Forest East. “I’ve been playing since I can remember, as my dad was a football coach” explained De Lacerda. “He would often take me with him to games and training sessions where he would let me have a kick around on the side. He’s also done so much for me in my career taking me up and down the country for training and games. He’s my role model because without him I wouldn’t be the person, or player, I am today.”

Amongst an impressive CV of clubs, De Lacerda has kitted up for the likes of Boavista, Sporting and UDL Leiria, before moving back to the UK and joining Dunstable Town. Spells in junior football with Luton Town Pre-Academy and Stevenage followed, before heading north, to where he lives now, and spending time with local clubs Aylestone Park, Leicester Nirvana, GNG Oadby Town and Melton town.

With regards to now joining the Reds, De Lacerda noted “I’ve always kept an eye out for Quorn. In the last two seasons, they’ve been superb, playing some great football and looking like a model non-league club. The facilities are amazing and there’s a good people and a great group of players who can play quality football.”

“I spoke to the manager in pre-season and asked to come down. I was delighted to be offered the chance to sign, as the style of play suits my game. I’m sure I will add plenty of goals and assists, and the chance to learn and play under Ryan, who’s had a great football career, will be a massive benefit to me as well.”

A versatile forward, Jonathan can play anywhere across the front three or in the number 10 position. “My preferred position is to play as a number nine or ten, creating pockets of space in the final 3rd of the pitch, beating players one-vs-one, and using my pace and skill to score goals and provide assists.”

A former England schoolboy, De Lacerda has made a great start for Quorn, scoring the final goal in the 3-1 preseason win at home to Nuneaton Borough, then providing an assist in the comeback win against Alvechurch. A PE Teacher by trade, Jonathan is loving life “I’m very proud to have turned my passion of sport into a job, and having the opportunity to and teach and inspire the next generation.”
